Small Basin

When it comes to the bathroom, homeowners have so many options as to the types and kinds of materials available.  You can change the entire look of a bathroom simply by making a few adjustments in the toilet or even the sink, which is why these things have to be taken into consideration in studying the overall bathroom and home design.  Because we use it regularly, it’s easy to take the sink for granted and assume that it will always be there.  It’s easier to think that a sink is just a sink, but of course this shouldn’t be the case because homeowners have so many options to choose from.

Not All Sinks are Created Equal

Sinks come in all shapes and sizes imaginable.  There are many options that homeowners have when it comes to choosing a sink for their bathroom.  First, sinks differ in the material they’re made of.  Here’s a list of some of the most common materials used to make sinks:

  • Stainless steel
  • Marble
  • Granite
  • Fiberglass
  • Porcelain
  • Soapstone
  • Glass

Aside from the material, sinks also differ on how they are mounted.  Some can be freestanding in a pedestal of its own, yet others can be incorporated into a countertop.  Sinks also vary according to size.  A small basin is a sink that can only be used by one person at a time, and although tinier than its counterparts, a small basin actually contains all the necessary space a person needs in a sink.  On the contrary, medium and large-sized sinks give people a lot more space to do their business.

Advantages of a Smaller Sink

Smaller sinks are becoming more and more popular today because of the advantages that they have to offer.  First of all, a smaller sink saves the homeowner on a lot of space.  Simply making the shift from a large sink to a smaller one frees up so much space that could be used for many other things.  Also, it’s important to note that smaller sinks are still sinks, which means they still serve the purpose that sinks were created for.  You can still brush your teeth and wash your hands using a smaller sink.  You can even wash your face without encountering problems.

Just because a sink is smaller in size doesn’t mean it’s limited in function.  It simply makes such efficient use of the space available to you.  Smaller sinks are most ideal for use in smaller and more compact bathrooms.

Small Sink Options

Even if you narrow down your sink choice to a small basin, there are a variety of choices available.  A small basin can come with a narrow pedestal of its own, and this not only saves space but makes the sink look unique as well.  Smaller sinks can also come mounted on the bathroom wall, and this wall-mount type of sink doesn’t utilize floor space.  All it needs is to be mounted on the wall and it’s good to go.
